VMWare Player crashes Redhat 6

I cannot run VMPlayer or uninstall VMPlayer.  It crashes my machine.   get this error in the logs: unable to initialize gtk How can I solve this, or just remove VMWare Player.

I'm assuming RHEL 6.2, which is not the same a Redhat 6.2 (e.g. redhat-6.2-i386.iso) however what bit-ness and kernel?  What is the output of uname -a in a Terminal?
