What you see in the image below is normal in a Windows XP Virtual Machine and the Guest OS in a VM cannot see or directly access an onboard (non-USB) type sound card.

Thanks, I tried your suggestion and indeed it resolved the problem!I went from nvidia NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-313.26.run to NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-310.40.run and that solved the problem.
