Aside from the fact that this discussion is over three years old, bumping old threads like this is when what you've presented really has nothing to do with the discussion is a bit pointless. This was involving a single Virtual Machine and the Host, not multiple Virtual Machines. It also came down to a settings issue not an unsophisticated* user issue. *Meaning, suspending a VM just to open another one because one can't see the Favorites seems unsophisticated when additional VM's can be started via the File > Open... command or simply double-clicking the target VM's .vmx configuration file much less starting another instance of VMware Player!
