Unity issue

Hi

I have got a new Thinkpad-T420S with Windows 7 and I am trying to run Ubuntu by VmwarePlayer.

My VmwarePlayer version is 5.0.1 build-894247

At first I tried to install Ubuntu-64 bit version, but it did not work, it gives some message as follows :

"Binary translation is incompatible with long mode on this platform. Disabling long mode. Without long mode support, the virtual machine will not be able to run 64-bit code."

Then as follows :

"This virtual machine is configured for 64-bit guest operating systems. However, 64-bit operation is not possible.

This host supports Intel VT-x, but Intel VT-x is disabled.

Intel VT-x might be disabled if it has been disabled in the BIOS/firmware settings or the host has not been power-cycled since changing this setting.

(1) Verify that the BIOS/firmware settings enable Intel VT-x and disable 'trusted execution.'

(2) Power-cycle the host if either of these BIOS/firmware settings have been changed.

(3) Power-cycle the host if you have not done so since installing VMware Player.

(4) Update the host's BIOS/firmware to the latest version."

I did some google, and it seems 64 bit Ubuntu not working as "Hardware-assisted Virtualization" is not enabled for my computer... I can enable it by changing BIOS setup, but I did not do that.. Instead I tried Ubuntu-32 bit version. And this worked.

So now Ubuntu (32 bit) is working fine, I also installed VmWare Tools, reboot the whole computer... However , now I am facing problem as Unity mode not working and giving following messages

"The virtual machine cannot enter Unity mode because:
- Unity is not supported on this guest operating system"
I am not sure how to fix this issue... I searched more messages in the community and did not get any answer which I can use... I re-installed VmWare tools, reboot computer nothing work... From another message I found someone told "group __vmware__ must be granted the log on locally rights in the Local Security Policy", but I am not sure how to do this ...  Can anyone help me to fix this Unity issue ?
Thanks
Uday
