Hi all,
I created a new VM. I installed software, etc. Now I need to copy over some files.
I am running a workstation with Win 8.1 64 bit and 16 gb RAM, an I7 4770 CPU, with lots of drives. I have a number of VMs and most work just fine. But I have one that is causing me some headaches.
1) If I try to drag files from my main desktop explorer to a VM explorer, nothing happens.
2) If I tell it to connect to a USB drive, it acts like it will, but doesn't.
3) If I tell it to always share a drive on the main desktop, it indicates it will, but doesn't.
4) I can't figure out how to "see" a drive on the network - I can see it, but it wants me to log in, but won't allow me to log in with an account other than one in the VM. The files shared on the network are simply from the desktop (no real server or anything.)
It's almost as if there is some setting somewhere that I can't find (maybe in a .ini file somewhere) that has this particular VM configured so that nothing I do will allow it to see the outside world (including the host desktop.
My other VMs do not have this problem.
I have gone in to manage and told it to repair and change the VM tools and it has acted like it did so. But still not working right.
Any suggestions of where to look to fix this?
Thanks!
