First of all it's not totally clear what you have in the way of software in regards to the "Mercedes-Benz Daimler Workshop Manual" and what all came with it, however...  VMware Player is a Type 2 Hypervisor that creates Virtual Machines on a Host OS in which a Guest OS is installed and then Applications are installed just as if it was a Physical Machine!   Suggest you read some of the Documentation!  Have a look at: Getting Started with VMware Player (PDF)
